I’m a research scientist by training, I started and sold two biotech companies, and I lived with chronic pain for many years.
My family also has a history of cancer and dementia, so I was eager to dive into scientific journals and find an answer…
How to live without pain, and how to prevent diseases of aging?
Through extensive reading and self-experimentation, I discovered that a whole foods, plant-based diet is one answer to both questions (no meat, no dairy, no gluten, no refined sugar, no caffeine).
You might be thinking that sounds like a terrible way to live. Why give up all your favorite comfort foods? And what about all your friends and family who think you’re super weird?
Well, the good news is, it’s actually really easy to translate classic comfort food favorites into plant-based versions.
Shepherd’s pie, pasta bolognese, curry and naan, mushroom stroganoff, pad thai, moist chocolate cake, almond croissants, fruit tarts. You name it, we can adapt it!
Using my kitchen as a laboratory, I have years of practice introducing our 4 kids to this way of eating. Even my meat-and-dairy husband solidly converted.
Why? Because it gives us more energy in a day (no more afternoon crashes), it’s something we can do to reverse climate change, and it prevents us from getting sick, now and in the future.
It’s like making food that loves you. ❤️🤗
When friends and family see how healthy and happy we are and how yummy our food is, sometimes they ask how they can get started with plant-based food too (or if I can cook for them)! But even if they don’t, we can live in a way that’s best for us and give everyone else permission to do the same.
